Building Resilience in Canine Professionals
Coach and therapist Jess Adam will explore the ever-present topic of burnout for canine professionals through the lens of a fellow helping professional. In this lecture, Jess will discuss ways that trainers—and others who work with dogs—can mindfully structure their work around their inherent strengths and values, rather than around common demands of the industry. The well-being of professionals, leads to the well-being of human clients, which leads to the well-being of dogs. When dog trainers build resilience using tools borrowed from the mental health field, they are able to create a more sustainable and fulfilling career within a field that demands so much of them.
Key Points:
- Warning signs of burnout for professionals
- Impact of pet professional burnout on relationships with human and dog clients
- Identifying pet professional strengths and values
- Applying strengths and values to create resilience and sustainability in your career
